AFCON: Morocco Edge Past Ghana with Boufal late strike

The match of the heavyweight champion in Africa’s biggest competition ended with a victory on the side of the Moroccan team against the Ghana Black Star with an 83rd minute’s Boufal late strikes.

The victory was a well-deserved victory for the Atlas Lions who are on their hunt for a second AFCON title after over 45 Years.

The Moroccan team who went into the competition without their Chelsea talisman Hakim Ziyech didn’t feel the vacuum of leaving him out.

Morocco’s national team dominated and control the game against the star-studded Black Star, whose high of praise for their premier league stars.

The Moroccan team dominated the game with a 58% ball possession and 11 overall shots (3 on target and 6 off-target) as against the Ghanaian national team who only recorded 42% ball possession with an overall 8 shots (4 on target and 4 off-target).

The difference in the match became visible with a nice strike from Sofiane Boufal who put the Atlas Lions at the forefront of qualification, with a victory in their next match, the Moroccan team is guaranteed a place in the next qualifying round.

The Ghanaian Black Star would have to seal a victory in their next 2 matches to put them on track for a fifth title chase.
