A senior level Malian delegate arrived in Mauritanian on Friday to curb looming tension over the disappearance of Mauritanian civilian in a border area.
The Mauritanian had alleged the Mali’s army of “recurring criminal acts” after over 20 of its citizen was reportedly missing close to the border.
Therefore, Malian Foreign Minister, Abdoulaye Diop had led a delegation who has arrived in the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott to address the critical issue on ground.
After the meeting had ended between the two countries, the Malian Minister said that they has both agreed to “set up a joint ad hoc fact – finding mission to shed light on the latest event in El Ataye (El Ghattaye)”, and to punish the perpetrators of these heinous crimes as severely as Malian law allows.”
Before the intervention of the Malian delegates led by the honourable minister, there was an unknown voice recording that is circulating all over the media which was recognized to be an alleged witness of the heinous crime blaming the Malian army for the shocking disappearance of Mauritanians.
On Wednesday, Abdoulaye Maiga, the Malian spokesman, confirmed that the “Murderers” had happened and said Mali had opened an inquiry. However, questions were raised after a previous situation in January had led to the demise of 7 Mauritanians in the same area.
