Youths in their numbers flocked to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) state secretariat in Kano on Saturday after staging a march across key locations in support of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
They carried banners, posters, and placards bearing various messages expressing support again for the former president Goodluck Jonathan.
Some of the banners and placards had inscriptions such as “Jonathan Don’t Abandon Us”, “Come To The Rescue Of Our Country”, “Jonathan, You Must Run”, and so on.
Mubashir Tafida, the Coordinator of the Jonathan Support Organization, said Nigeria is in a sorry state and that only a man like Jonathan could repair the problems, speaking at the NUJ secretariat.
“When he was president, there was no hunger and poverty. Our destiny lies in his hands. He is our father, and as children, we appeal to him to contest for election in order to save us from the present hardship in Nigeria.”
In their speech, the group has given a seven-day deadline to President Goodluck Jonathan to announce his interest in the 2023 presidency.
“So, we give him a seven-day ultimatum to declare for the presidency or we will throng his office with 2 million youths to force him to declare. Our destiny lies in his decision to run.”
The Coordinator claimed that it makes no difference to them whose political party Jonathan runs for president under.
And that!
Two million young people would attack the former president’s office if he did not proclaim his desire to run, according to Tafida.
