The Ghana police force has announced a gift of Ghc5,000 on any information that will aid the arrest of a young man who had fired gunshots to celebrate the new 2022
In a statement released on January 1, the police said: “the police have intercepted a video in which a young man is seen firing several shots of a firearm suspected to be AK 47 at Anc Mali, East Legon, last night purportedly to welcome the new year”
“The Police have taken a serious stance against the actions of the young man since it is a crime to discharge a firearm in public without lawful and necessary occasion under section 209 of the criminal offences act 1960 (act 29)”
“The Police Administration after reviewing the video footage has placed an amount of five thousand Ghana cedis as a bounty for anyone who can provide leading to his arrest to face prosecution”
In the said video, the man was seen shorting in a multitude of rounds of shots before he was approached by friends who hugged him while he was still firing the gun
This however was not the first time the police hunts for any unlawful and immoral acts displayed in public by any citizen A similar case were that of the arrest of musician Medical who brandished a gun on social media, a private owner who recklessly drove in front of the Police Headquarters and also a trotro driver who was caught peeing in public
