Gabonese President Ali Bongo has on Saturday gave a live appearance at his party’s congress which holds on Saturday as the Gabonese Democratic Party celebrated its 54th anniversary where he made an unusual promise to the public.
After the president had suffered from a stroke for four years, the president appeared on Saturday to address thousands of supporters that converged Libreville to commemorate the 54th anniversary of the party.
The president said: “dear comrades 2023 is fast approaching I will be there with you. The only outcome will be victory a victory, a clear and indisputable victory, to complete the work we’ve we have begun”.
The president has long revealed his intention to run for the country’s upcoming presidential election and he has made his ambition and intention known to the Gabonese Democratic Party where he hoped to be the party’s candidate.
The Gabonese election shall hold in 2023 when the populace will have the mandate to choose their president and their lawmaker.
After being struck by stroke, Ali Bongo had spent a long time to recover from the shock illness. Upon his recovery, he came live for the first time during his party anniversary where he had to rely on a walking cane to get his balance.
