European Union (EU) to Kenya has debunked reports of discriminatory acts towards Africans that were levied against the war-stricken country, Ukraine.
On their clarification, the European union delegations says, member states bordering warring Ukraine have given unrestricted welcome to the foreigners that are taking off from the country due to the current war thus, debunking the claim of discrimination as circulated by the media
There were over 200 Kenyans that are trapped in Ukraine as a result of Russian military exercise as reported by a press from the bloc
In their official statement, the EU shows so much disappointment in the false news circulated by the media. “The incorrect and skewed media reporting on this issue that has repeatedly appeared in various Kenyan outlets and social media, and calls for careful verification of the facts”
“Given that in some cases deliberate disinformation is being spread, the EU embassies present in Kenya are ready to provide accurate data”
Neighboring countries such as Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Poland have given even everyone including Kenyan that are fleeing Ukraine free access to their country they further revealed
Their official statement reads: “contrary to some media reports, those Kenyans who have arrived at the border have been assisted and allowed to enter safely into EU member states”
Till the time of this statement released by the EU, the Kenyan has so far confirmed that only one person has arrived home.
Various African students that are in Ukraine have shared their experience on the ongoing Ukraine security personnel action towards them as they try to flee the country.
The majority of them reported that they are been blocked by Ukrainian security agencies from departing from the country.
